Slow Cooker Korean Sloppy Joes

The Sloppy Joe is a classic American sandwich that has been a favorite since its origin in the early 20th century. Traditionally made with ground beef, onions, tomato sauce, and seasonings served on a hamburger bun, the Sloppy Joe is known for its messy and flavorful profile. The origins of the name and sandwich vary, but it’s widely accepted that the dish gained popularity in the 1930s.

As culinary trends evolved, so did the variations of this beloved sandwich. The fusion of different cuisines has given rise to many creative takes on the traditional Sloppy Joe, including the Slow Cooker Korean Sloppy Joe. This modern twist blends the savory, sweet, and spicy elements of Korean cuisine with the comforting and easy-to-make nature of the traditional Sloppy Joe.

Korean cuisine, with its bold flavors of gochujang (Korean chili paste), soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil, offers a rich and unique profile that complements the simple ingredients of a Sloppy Joe. The slow cooker method not only simplifies the cooking process but also allows the flavors to meld together beautifully over time, resulting in a tender and flavorful filling.

Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the meat and onions.
